Jacqueline Jossa is the new Lauren Branning

The role of Lauren Branning is to be taken over by new actress Jacqueline Jossa who will make her appearance later this year and will be the all new grown up and tougher teenager.

Lauren was last played by Madeline Duggan since she joined the show in 2006 and was last seen planning to head off to a US summer camp.

Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood said: "Maddie Duggan did a great job of playing the young Lauren Branning, and we wish her the very best of luck for the future. I'm delighted to welcome Jacqueline Jossa to Albert Square. Jacqueline's portrayal of Lauren has all the classic Branning qualities of toughness, cynicism and sensitivity. Jacqueline is set to be at the heart of Walford drama for some time to come."

Well having forgot about this thread and having now rediscovered it I thought it was about time I made comment on the new Lauren who we have been getting use to over recent months and personally I think it was a terrible move as she is now one of the stroppiest teenagers on tv.

Lauren returned from the US a different person she was suddenly snotty, bad tempered and rather conniving I think the worst bit was when she was forcing her dad Max to choose between Stacey and her which was totally unfair and if she cared so much for her half brother Bradley then surely she would realise that he would have wanted Stacey protected at all costs.

With Stacey now gone its all gone quiet on the Lauren front thankfully and we don't have to constantly look at her stupid hat and handbag, I do have hope though that the writers might tone her down a bit and maybe see her being taken down a peg or two.
